Above and Beyond: Hearing God's Call in Jonah and Ruth, by Carol M. Bechtel. The PresbyterianWomen are led in study on the second Monday of each month, by Pastor Bob, at 10:30 a.m, in the Fellowship Hall.
What does it mean to hear God's call? It is often assumed that only those who go into some kind of formal, full-time ministry have heard a "call." Old Testament scholar and pastor Carol Bechtel looks at what God's call meant for Jonah and Ruth. Not just a "fish story" or a "Cinderella tale," these biblical books, says Bechtel, offer us insight into what it means for each of us to hear and heed God's call.
No matter where you are on your life's journey, this study will challenge you to ask, "What am I called to do? Who am I called to be? What am I called to say?"
Tuesdays
The Men's Prayer Breakfast is held every Tuesday morning at 7:00 a.m., in the Fellowship Hall. The cooks come early and prepare a hearty breakfast that brings back memories of days gone by. Everyone is served, then the men have a devotion. Afterward, time is spent in prayer for those people and issues that have been brought before the group. The planned activities normally conclude by 7:50, to allow the working men to head out to the office. For those men with a more relaxed schedule, fellowship and cleanup continue for a short time.
Tuesdays with Tiffany, a Women's Bible Study meets every week to learn and "break bread" together. Currently we are discussing the women of the Bible, focusing on the women who don’t get much attention. We, explore their stories and discuss their significance in the Bible and the lessons we can learn from each of them. Bring your lunch and join us at noon on Tuesdays in room 103. Wednesdays
Beth Moore's Stepping Up: A Journey through the Psalms of Ascent . This women's group, facilitated by Shirley Boon, meets during the Wednesday children's programs, from 6 p.m. until 7:45 p.m. It is conveniently scheduled so you can drop off your children and spend some quality time with other women studying the Bible. The cost of the workbook is $15.
In this 7-week group study of Psalms, Beth Moore takes you through an in-depth look at 15 Psalms. Participants in this study can pray, reflect, and write a personal rendition of these ancient choruses. Some of the themes explored in detail include unity, joy and gratitude, redemption, repentance, the power of blessings, facing ridicule, and more. Modern-day believers can learn much from these treasured Psalms in their journey toward greater intimacy with God.
