What Is Cub Scouting?
In 1930 the Boy Scouts of America launched a program for boys with an emphasis on caring, nurturing relationships between boys and their parents, adult leaders, and friends. Cub Scouts do fun things with other kids! They get to wear a cool uniform, go places, and see things. They play all kinds of sports and build things, like race cars and bird houses. Want to learn a secret code? Want to learn about wild animals? If you're a boy in the first through fifth grades, then you want to be a Cub Scout!
Cub Scout Pack 978was chartered by Oakland Presbyterian Church in 2004, and each new year has brought growth and more learning. The Cub Scouts are for boys in the first through the fifth grade. Pack 978 is part of the Central Florida Council and in the Apopka Shores District.
There are currently over forty scouts that attend faithfully, and are divided into five dens according to age levels. Tiger Cubs (first graders), Wolf Cub Scouts (second graders), Bear Cub Scouts (third graders),Webelo Scouts (fourth graders) and Webelo Scouts (fifth graders) meet weekly. Meetings are held at the Oakland Presbyterian Church on Monday evenings at 6:30 p.m.
